XUITCASECITY, pronounced “suitcase city”, is an American hip-hop, pop duo from Tampa Florida, consisting of Singer Mike Gomes and rapper Cam.
Mike Gomes (born August 28, 1991) is an American born singer /songwriter from Providence, Rhode Island. He relocated to Safety Harbor, Florida at the young age of 4. Mike grew up being an all-star baseball player until his sophomore year of high school when he decided he had an ear for music. With the help of his dad, Mike grew up on oldies such as Cat Stevens, The Beatles and CCR. When he was 15 his dad bought him his first guitar and he slowly progressed from there. His mom used to collect the “NOW” CDs which heavily influenced his taste in mainstream pop music.
Cameron Burwell (born November 10, 1983) is an African American hip hop artist, songwriter & producer. Growing up in the Tampa area; he and his family relocated to Florida from New Jersey when Cam was 7 and his father brought his affinity for New York hip-hop with him. Exposing his son to the work of The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Jay Z and Big L. His mother, on the other hand, preferred the work of Michael Jackson and Prince — hence Cam’s interest in and proficiency as a rapper and a singer.
They initially grabbed ears with their 2017 EP, INDXGO, and the track "Bout You," which cracked the top 40 of Billboard's Rhythmic Songs chart. In the fall 2019 they would direct support Witt Lowry on his Never’s Road tour. This led to the idea of playing a record called “Misunderstood” at the end of their set. This was an unreleased record, and they wanted to see first time reactions too it. The response was so overwhelming, they knew that when 2020 came this would be their lead single off their self-titled EP.
